COLORADO TEAM MISSION SLC3 EXPERIENCE (July 30-Aug 7)

After a 10 hour drive from Colorado, we arrived home last night completely exhausted, but never more hopeful, about what God has in store for Spirit Led Coach. Yesterday my beautiful wife and I also celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary. You might think riding in a church van with twelve college athletes for 10 hours is not the ideal way to celebrate an anniversary, but it is honestly the secret to an amazing marriage. Nothing bonds a couple more than serving Christ together.

Our trip to Colorado was a team mission trip in which we joined the leaders of Briggsdale in hosting an SLC3 Experience for an entire community. Briggsdale is a small town in Northern Colorado full of amazing people. Counting players, coaches and my kids we had 23 total take part in the incredible seven day journey.

During the mornings we ran a sports camp for the kids. During the afternoons we did outreach for the elderly and widows by painting homes and doing yard work. In the evenings we did three separate SLC3 Experiences for the adults, youth, and children. Each night consisted of late night pick up basketball games that added to the bonding our players who were able to make the trip.

In return, the community came together both housing and feeding our guys. On Saturday afternoon we helped host a carnival with a ton of fun games like Wipe Out, then that night everyone watched a faith based movie like an old drive in setup. Sunday morning we had a final church service together followed by the best pot luck meal I have ever experienced.

This community wide SLC3 Experience impacted many, especially my players. Many of my guys come from big cities and had never been in a rural setting. They left loving the closeness, togetherness, and safety of the small town community. The last two days of the trip we adventured to the mountains to see the beauty of God’s creation by climbing a mountain called Longs Peak stopping at a lake at 12,000 ft called Chasm Lake. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. We followed that up with some white water rafting near Estes Park. Our last night in Colorado we sat down as a group, gave shout outs complimenting each other, and sharing everything God had done in and through us during the week. Words simply can’t describe the impact and joy of the experience.

MICHIGAN CHURCH AND SLC3 COACHING EXPERIENCE (July 27-29)

One of the big visions we have for Spirit Led Coach is to take SLC3 Experiences to big churches in large cities. God opened that door soon after He gave us that vision with an invitation from Pastor Jim Manness. He is the lead pastor or Life Stream Church in Allendale, Michigan, a beautiful city on the outskirts of Grand Rapids. Pastor Manness has a rich tradition of OKWU Basketball as he is a former OKWU Eagles basketball alum. Not only that, his father used to be the head basketball coach at OKWU.

Now the Lead Pastor of a thriving church, Pastor Manness felt led to reach out and invite the SLC ministry to both share in Life Stream Church and lead a SLC3 Coaches Experience during the course of the weekend. The turnout and feedback from the weekend was tremendous. Much of that is because of the charisma and organizational skills of the Life Stream Church team. They would all point to the leading of the Holy Spirit to the reason why the SLC3 Experience was such an impacting event and why their amazing church is busting at the seems with anointed favor and growth.

THE FIRST ANNUAL SLC3 OKWU COACHES EXPERIENCE (July 19-21)

The first ever SLC3 Coaches Experience was a huge success. I honestly believe the speakers were hand picked by the King. Yes a number of the speakers were Hall of Fame Coaches, but every single speaker brought an anointed message that every coach in America should listen to. I will be posting each speaker’s session a couple at a time over the next few weeks. I will start today with Liberty Institute’s Chief of Staff Mike Berry who addressed the story of Coach Joe Kennedy in this video. There will be a follow up video with Mike Berry answering questions about a coaches legal rights in the public and private sector.

This Session with Mike Berry is a must watch!

Check back daily for more sessions to be posted!
