LOL – Laugh Out Loud
If you can’t smile and understand God is the creator of a good laugh, then look in the mirror;) As i look back at my life some of the most powerful miracles God demonstrated his love and power to me, He did so with a special touch of humor that only He can pull off. Like the summer i was praying for my friend to be healed of cancer. As i prayed day and night, one day i asked God for a sign. Could you show me a dove, so i know the Holy Spirit it is with me and I am doing your will. Truth is i was not sure exactly what a dove looked like. I thought they were only white. All summer would look for doves. I often would ask my wife while driving, do you see that bird, do you think it is a dove? She would roll her eyes or say something like “Doves don’t hang out with cows”. Towards the end of summer i came home from a basketball camp i had worked. When i pulled up to my house, the big tree in front were absolutely packed with birds, because they were multiple colors, i did not think about the possibility of what kind of birds they were, all i could think about was the amount of birds in my trees. I got out of the truck and walked in the house asking my son. You see all these birds. There were so many that you could hear them in the house, our windows were not the best. I went back outside and clapped loudly a couple times to see if i could get them to leave. Some did fora moment, then they would return. It was definitely a twilight zone moment. For an hour i messed with the birds, but finally i gave in to the fact the birds were not going anywhere. The next morning i saw my 70 year old neighbor outside. He had live in the neighborhood for 40+ years. I said to him, “John, you see all those birds yesterday?”. His response, “Donnie, I have never seen so many doves in my life!” All i could do was smile, as God showed up in so many powerful ways that summer. Often with a fingerprint of humor that only He could add! “A joyful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22. There is no more joyful life than following Jesus. Church should be full of laughter cause we are the church! Pull up some John Crist or John Gray If you need a little laugh or as i said earlier, take one more look in the mirror.
