AI or HS
It is not until recently that I have been made aware of the power of AI. Yeah, I knew knowledge was increasing just as the Bible warned in Daniel 12:4, but the speed at which it is multiplying has reached warp speed. In my lifetime alone we have gone from a dial phone on the wall to a phone you can hold in the palm of your hand with the ability to see and speak with someone on the other side of the world. I have gone from a typewriter in high school, to a computer in college, to a smart phone. From a pinball machine, to Atari, to VR Games that I can’t even begin to figure out how to play. The fact that I have gone from my 68 Chevy Pickup with a carburetor, headers, and a distributor to witnessing Elon Musk’s self-driving computer driven cars is absolutely mind blowing.
As a coach, analytics have definitely impacted the game. It seemed to be exposed when the movie Moneyball came out in 2011. A movie demonstrating how a GM named Billy Beane broke the traditional model of thinking by using analytics to take Oakland A’s to the top of MLB, seemingly overnight, using data and picking players based on things such as on-base percentage over batting average.
Recently, I have seen and heard many alarming videos and podcasts speaking to the danger of the line humans have crossed with AI and their consuming desire of knowledge and power.
Where are we headed, how soon will we get there, and is it going to destroy us all are now the questions we must answer. AI, Artificial Intelligence, is here like it or not and it is taking over. Whether rumor or truther, there are now stories about a computer that is thinking on its own and solving things previously thought impossible in seconds. AI is now possessed by people set on controlling the population and forcing things on us, like it or not. Rumors or truth about connecting our brains to computers to heal disease sounds great, but the next step is to basically have the computer take over our minds and give us superhuman ability to increase our knowledge.
If we don’t buy in as they force digital currency on us and force us to agree with a woke worldview, then they can empty our bank accounts and track us through our cell phones or at some point, computer implanted microchips. All in the name of saving the earth and for the better good of mankind. Naw, I am losing my mind right? I am just talking silly and have turned into a conspiracy nut.
At what point does a coach recruit players based on who a computer tells him to take? At what point do we sit on the bench and call plays based on what a computer informs us to call based on the personnel it told me to recruit?
I love the fact that I don’t have to be away from my family in order to drive five to six nights a week to scout, recruit, and coach games like a did just a few years ago. I can watch recruits highlights and games on my phone and communicate with them via smart device instead of pulling over to a pay phone and putting in a calling card number like I did in the early 2000’s.
I can tell you this. I tried the rat race to get to the top and was willing to sacrifice almost everything to climb the ladder in coaching. I studied film, looked at the data, scouted, worked harder than anyone trying to gain the edge to win. I did fairly well too, but it wasn’t AI or even my work ethic that helped me get over the hump. It was HS!
Yeah, I said HS, the Holy Spirit, who was my game changer. He taught me how to win at an uncommon level. He gave me the knowledge, wisdom, and ability to recruit, coach, and succeed at the highest level. His numbers don’t lie! Didn’t Jesus say HS was the answer?
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26 KJV
Through the power of HS, Jesus did miracles such as healing the blind, walking on water, and rising from the dead. AI may help cure the blind at some point and the Bible says the antichrist will appear to raise from the dead, but don’t be fooled. AI is no comparison to HS!
Jesus told His faithful followers, John 14:12, it is better for you if I go, for I shall send HS to you so that you will do even greater things than I. John 14:17, The Spirit of God who is with you will be in you. John 20:22, Jesus breathed on them and said to them: ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’”, but said we are not done. Don’t leave town until you are clothed with the Power of the Holy Spirit. Luke 24, Stay in Jerusalem until you are clothed with the Power of HS. It was Luke who wrote Acts. Fifty days later on Pentecost, Jesus was true to His words and through the power of HS a small group of 200 in an upper room soon grew to thousands and in the year 2000 there were a reported 2.38 Billion confessing Christians out of 8 Billion People on Earth.
There is a little irony in the fact that technology is helping spread the Gospel, but we also know that technology has demonized the ability to spread hate, porn, fear, and has strengthened the enemy’s ability to kill, steal, and destroy.
I don’t know how evil AI will be in the long run, but I do know AI is not the answer or the highest power. Not by a long shot. The Answer is Jesus and the highest power on earth belong to HS and Jesus followers!
