Bring ‘em Out Jesus Style

I love Music! All genres attract me! There is something powerfully addictive in a line, a riff, or a beat of a song. Through studying the origin of music, I believe it is obvious its intention.

Music was intended for the sole purpose of praising God, but Lucifer an anointed cherub designed to worship God, chose to instead worship himself.

Our biggest enemy is most often in the mirror, looking at yourself instead of focusing on God. Lucifer led a rebellion to which one third of the angels followed. As a result, God had Michael cast Lucifer and his followers out of Heaven onto earth.

God created Adam and Eve in His own image and placed them in a garden on earth to commune with Him. He anointed Adam and through the power of the Holy Spirit, he has anointed you. Satan hates you, because you carry the anointing he once carried.

Like angels, He created them with choice as well. Sadly, they were misled by Lucifer and chose unwisely to disobey God causing them to be cast out of Eden.

Why God chose earth as the location for both the Garden of Eden and Lucifer, I don’t know. Did God know Lucifer and Adam would both rebel? That is a is a good question.

God either always had a redemption plan, or since He is all knowing, He designed a redemption plan, a true love story, of sending His only Son, to save His creation. A plan the formerly anointed cherub has tried, but failed miserably to stop.

Instead just like God commanded Moses, God commanded Jesus to “Bring Em Out”. Set my people free!

That freedom came with a great cost, but because of God’s love for us, Jesus was willing to pay the ultimate price.

Some things seemingly never change though. Lucifer, aka Satan, is still trying to use music. His goal never changes, steal God’s praise and to deceive God’s people.

For much of my life I was easily lured into listening and liking a song due to a few lines, a riff or beat. What I somehow missed, was that songs were laced with language that I would never normally listen to or repeat.

Sort of like hard porn beginning with soft porn, it is a slow fade designed to lure you into a trap.

Is it shocking that a song is now referred to as a “joint”? In 1938 the term joint was coined when referring to a marijuana cigarette.  The term “joint” itself originated from an American slang term for a place, historically a gathering spot or, in some cases, an illicit association or place where criminals gathered.

Maybe it is time we stand and “Bring em out” of the trap the enemy has set for so many of our youth and loved ones.

Let’s find a song I can use as an example.

The artist T.I.’s first album release flopped resulting in being dropped from his record label. That was before his song “Bring Em Out”. It debuted in 2009 ultimately climbing to no 9 and launching his highly successful 20+ year music career.

It was a boastful anthem celebrating his status, wealth, and dominance in the rap game, produced by Swizz Beatz. The lyrics, featuring a sample from Jay-Z, emphasize T.I.’s confidence, calling for his rivals to appear so he can assert his superiority. The themes in the song were self confidence, superiority, street credibility, and wealth. T.I. is challenging anyone to step up, declaring himself the best, and demanding attention. The phrase itself is a call to action, essentially telling his competition to show themselves so he can prove his dominance.

I almost laugh because I watch male dogs daily at the dog park do the same to each other. Are we no better than a dog?

What would it be like to be different, counter to culture, to “Bring Em Out” Jesus Style? We actually have great context in the Bible for this.

If instead we chose to demonstrate meekness “power under control”, love, courage, humility, and a genuine respect for our opponents ability, then what do you think the result would be?

What if we looked at our opponent as a chosen brother in Christ that we are called to share the “Good News” to? Why? To “Bring Em Out” of the darkness into His glorious light! To show them Jesus, our Savior and their Savior!

Like Moses, who God commanded to “Bring ‘Em Out” of captivity in Egypt. Like Jesus, who God sent to “Bring Us Out” of captivity of sin and death. We can show them who they already are in Christ.

As Christians, It is our responsibility to “Bring em out”. To show them that through Christ, they are able to do even mightier things, impossible things. Show them that they are God’s special possession, called to declare His praises.

Since God can turn all things for our good, and we are called to be like Christ, then through the power of the Holy Spirit in us, we can help the lost see and find Jesus!
