Pretty sure if you know me well, then you have called me crazy! If you barely know me, but think you do, then I am sure you have called me crazy. I am unashamedly guilty of charge!
In this world, in my opinion “crazy” is one of the greatest compliments you could ever give me. Crazy is defined as foolish, senseless, strange, enthusiastic, and extreme. 2000 years ago, fools identified Jesus as each of these qualities. Today, fools call passionate followers of Jesus “crazy”.
Missionaries, who put all of their belongings in a coffin, as they prepared to travel to a people that they felt called to love despite the hate and probable death that awaited them for fulfilling their mission were called “crazy”.
Christians who are tortured, imprisoned, and even killed for not denouncing Jesus as their Savior are called “crazy”.
Kids who are bullied daily at school for choosing to follow Jesus over following the pack hell bent on indulging in sin are called “crazy”.
Yes, all of these heroes of the faith were and are called “crazy” just like John the Baptist and Jesus. Sadly most throw around their future destination like it is a joke calling others “crazy as hell”.
I would be honored beyond measure to ever be mentioned in the same discussion as the previously mentioned crazy followers of Christ. I would hope that someday we all would be guilty of being considered “crazy”for Christ Jesus!
What sets you apart?
Do you realize the definition of Holy is to be “set apart”? Why are you hell bent on fitting into a world full of sin?
If you want to be radical or a rebel, then here is your chance. Quit following the crowd and follow the King! Get to know the Holy Spirit! He will most likely ask you to go out of your way to help and love the homeless looking person in Wal-Mart. He will most likely ask you to stand up for the sinner and love them even when they despise you. He will most likely ask you to invite the unpopular person at school to sit with you at lunch. At the same time, He will never ask you to take part in sin.
Crazy usually is most often a chosen adjective of an onlooker who lacks understanding, while a person choosing to be different or set apart is often tapping into crazy faith. That is a radical faith that I believe is what the world needs!
