Even when Philadelphia’s Spiritual Leader and MVP candidate Carson Wentz went down with a devastating knee injury, God just rose up another unlikely hero in Nick Foles to lead the Eagles to soar. Nick Foles, who plans on preaching the gospel to youth after his football career is over, outgunned who many call “the GOAT” Tom Brady on his way to leading Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl Championship. You would think that would win the entire city of Philadelphia to Christ! Now once again the Unlikely Hero is given the opportunity and not only does he shine, he leads the Eagles once again back to the NFL promised land of the playoffs. Not only that but he sets an NFL record with 25 straight completions in a must win game as just another encore added to his unlikely resume! Last year’s Super Bowl Champions were very outspoken about what got them there. The last time I heard it this loud and proud from a NFL voice about God playing the lead role in their climb to victory, it was coming from Ray Lewis as he stated “NO WEAPON”, in reference to the verse found in Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Lewis proclaimed for all to hear that nothing could stop his God from helping his Ravens win the Super Bowl that season. He overcame injuries, his past, and many haters in making sure everyone knew where his strength came from. I found it ironic as so many were trying to stop Tim Tebow up from worshipping by simply bowing for a moment to honor God, but nobody was going to tell Ray Lewis to be quiet.
