If You Seek Me, You Can…

The word ‘Seek’ is found in the Bible 313 times. Whether in Hebrew or Greek seek still means to aggressively pursue. What is your heart set on seeking right now?

It seems pretty simple to me. If you can’t see what you are looking for, then seek. Since we were little kids, we all loved to play hide and seek. Even with babies we all love a good game of peek-a-boo. So why am I taking time to write this post? Why? Because of this promise, “If you Seek Me, You Can!”

Do you want to know what God’s Plan is for your life? Do you want to see God? Do you want to see Him move on your behalf?

Do you want to see His miracle working power work through you? Of course you do! If you do, then SEEK!

Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ ‭AMP‬‬ – “For I know the PLANS and THOUGHTS that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. Then [with a deep longing] you will SEEK ME and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] FIND ME when you search for ME with ALL your heart. I will be found by you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes..”

What a powerful Biblical Principle! Let’s check out a few more verses that shed more light on this promise!

Psalms 9:10 – “God does not forsaken (abandon) those who SEEK Him.”

Psalms 10:4 – “The wicked in his proud ways does not Seek God.”

Psalms 14:2 –  “Are there any that are Seeking Me?”

2 Chronicles‬ ‭16‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭‬‬ – “…when you relied on the LORD, he delivered them into your power, because the LORD’s eyes scan the whole world to strengthen those who are committed to (SeekingHIM with ALLtheir hearts.”

Psalms 27:7-10 – “God holds me head and shoulders above all who try to pull me down. I’m headed for his place to offer anthems that will raise the roof! Already I’m singing God-songs; I’m making music to God. Listen, God, I’m calling at the top of my lungs: “Be good to me! Answer me!” When my heart whispered, “Seek God,” my whole being replied, “I’m seeking him!” Don’t hide from me now! You’ve always been right there for me; don’t turn your back on me now. Don’t throw me out, don’t abandon me; you’ve always kept the door open. My father and mother walked out and left me, but God took me in.”

Isaiah‬ ‭51‬:‭1‬ ‭AMP‬‬ – “Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness (right standing with God), Who SEEKand inquire of the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut And to the excavation of the quarry from which you were dug.”

Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ ‭TPT‬‬ – “And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that HE rewards the faith of those who passionately SEEK HIM.”

I believe I have provided enough evidence to my point! Now let’s look at a Bible story that is a powerful example of this Principle. It is about a King found in 2 Chronicles 26. I challenge you to read it for yourself, but for now let me give you my abbreviated version.

At 16 years old, King Uzziah became the King of Judah. He ruled for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. He did what was right in the LORD’s eyes. He SOUGHT God as long as Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God, was alive. And as long as he SOUGHT the LORD, God gave him success. He built towers in Jerusalem and in the wilderness and dug many wells for his large herds in the lowlands and the plain. He had many workers who tended his farms and vineyards. Uzziah had a powerfully weaponized army of over 375,000! And so Uzziah’s fame spread far and wide, because he had received (God’s) wonderful help until he became powerful. But as soon as he became powerful, he grew so arrogant that he acted corruptly and was unfaithful to the LORD his God.

As a result of his actions he suffered from a skin disease until the day he died.

There is one more valuable principle we must address before ending this post.

Let’s call this Principle – The Cross or Resurrection Power!  Which do you focus on? You can’t have resurrection power without the cross and our job is to focus on seeking the King and the Kingdom. When we do that then we allow our King to focus on the reward and fulfilling His plan for our lives. That leads to my final verse regarding seeking for you, “But SEEK first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and ALL these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33.

Don’t take my word for it. Take it from Jesus himself, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8.
