Sadly, but true, at some point in your journey “quitting looked good”. Actually, it isn’t a one-time occurrence, it is something you face often in life. It is in these moments, your character and faith is defined. When you are at your weakest point, the door of opportunity opens.
Jesus ministry began at age 30. John the Baptist baptized Jesus, God announced Jesus was His Son, and the Holy Spirit came down and filled Jesus without measure, then immediately the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness (LUKE 4:1). After 40 days of fasting, the enemy was lured out of the darkness. He hoped that the human side of Jesus would fall. When Jesus flesh was at its weakest point, I believe that even to Jesus “quitting looked good”. It was in that moment that Jesus set a precedent for us to both see and follow.
Paul said it best in 2 Corinthians 12:10, “When I am weak, then I am strong”. Jesus character and faith was found in the power of the Holy Spirit inside Him resulting in the ability to stay disciplined when in the fire. Jesus left the wilderness much different than when He entered it. Luke 4:14 says, “Jesus left the wilderness in the Power of the Spirit, and news about Jesus spread through the whole countryside.”
Last Monday Night, all of the country came to that challenging moment. Whether watching live, though the news, or on social media, we saw Damar Hamblin die on Monday Night Football. It was a moment when quitting the game was the right thing to do. The coaches and players agreed that the game would stop. What did they choose to do instead? The entire country chose to PRAY, instead of PLAY.
The same thing that Tim Tebow and Coach Joe Kennedy got ridiculed and even fired for, now was the only obvious option. No. 3 was lying dead on the field and the woke world did not dare to stop the real multitude from taking a knee and praying to the ALL MIGHTY GOD! IN JESUS NAME the multitude united and prayed for Damar Hamblin. How awesome and miraculous are the results?
How awesome is it that Damar asked by written communication soon after coming out of coma if they won the game? Even more awesome is this message that was sent out today from Damar: “Putting love into the world comes back 3xs as much… thankful for everyone who has reached out and prayed. This will make me stronger on the road to recover, keep praying for me! 3”
Is it a coincidence that Damar wears the no. 3? The number that represents resurrection?
The truth is quitting never looks good. Don’t ever give it the time of day. When you become weak, and it will happen, then in that moment of challenge choose to pray and stand on the promises of God. When you feel like quitting, remember No. 3 Damar Hamblin!
