Silver and Gold have I none…
Another amazing season in the books. Was I disappointed in how the season ended? Yes very, especially since injuries plated a role in giving us a complete shot at winning the ultimate Silver or Gold.
So what do I have to give to you today that is worthy of sharing? Is another conference championship enough? I think you know the answer to that question. Is another 27 win National Tournament appearance enough to truly change anything in your life?
The answer is no, none of that is capable of bringing you the joy, peace, and satisfaction that you are looking for. Hold up though!
What I do have, I gladly share with you! What I do have is exceedingly greater! It never runs out of its shine! It lifts you up higher both in the valley and on the mountaintop. What I do have is more valuable than gold and silver!
What is it you ask? I have Jesus! I have access to the Presence of my King! I have access to the Almighty and His Favor, Blessings, and Wealth! I have full and complete access to unlimited power, unbeatable peace and joy, and an indescribable love that conquers all!
Do you have to win every game to receive or achieve it? Do you have to make every shot and hold your opponent scoreless to receive this prize? The answer is not at all!
It is easier to achieve than a game winning free throw. How you ask? How can it be that easy, yet so few seem to chase after this prize?
It is a free gift, but it did not come without a great cost. It actually came with a very significant price. Someone who loves you more than you can even imagine already paid that great price. He sacrificed it all, giving His life, so you could experience the greatest victory and championship of all! He died so you would have access to streets of gold and be given a signature ring by the King giving you authority and access to more than you could ever achieve on a basketball court or athletic field.
I know this sounds to good to be true. Something more beautiful than you can even imagine, more precious than gold. An absolutely free gift waiting for you to receive? On earth championship trophies and rings are earned, fought for, and sought after with great sacrifice, so how can this actually be?
It is like describing the best watermelon you have ever tasted to someone who has never even experienced anything sweet. I can try to describe it, but until you taste His presence yourself, words simply can’t describe!
It is not a matter of if you win it again someday, all you have to do is seek or knock. When you do, God promises you even more! I can speak from experience. I would trade all three of my National Championships for just one more encounter with Jesus. When you taste of His love, all else fades. No amount of fame and glory can buy you the peace, joy, and daily satisfaction available when you become a child of God.
I pray today you discover this free gift and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. No greater reward will you ever receive!
