The Missing Peace

I woke from a dream that had my heart racing. In the dream I was given something of value and minutes later it simply vanished. It was gone. No matter how hard I searched I could not find what I had just had in my hands.

It took me a few minutes after waking up to realize that it was only a dream and I had not actually lost the incredibly valuable piece or my peace. Without that peace, there is no victory or true joy.

When your hope is in the One True God, it isn’t the same hope the world holds to. Our Father’s hope is full of guaranteed promises for all who seek Him first and with all our hearts. I have seen God come through time and time again through young men who had been overlooked in recruiting until God shows up and reveals their destiny!

My job is to point them to the Master and equip them with His power, wisdom, and promises. Once that happens, I can get out of the way and watch God do His thing in them! God never ceases to amaze me.

Finding that missing peace is like finding a priceless hidden treasure. We should spend all our valuable time and give our greatest effort seeking this treasure instead of fame, pleasure, and selfish gain.

You see what I was given in the dream was actually a small child. The most priceless gift anyone could ever receive. When the child vanished, it more than crushed me. I searched with everything in me to find the missing child.

As a parent, and now grandparent, I know exactly how valuable each of my children are to me. My heart hurts for parents who have lost children. Children who have followed the path of the prodigal son or daughter.

I am writing this to encourage all you coaches, FCA leaders, youth directors, summer camp workers, and all of God’s commissioned warriors who daily seek to find and save lost children. You are my heroes.

The enemy wants our children and the battle rages daily for their souls. Never give up on finding that lost child! From my experience, some the greatest men and women of God are those who were at one time the most lost.

More precious than any championship ring and more valuable than any raise or job advancement is the soul of a single child.
