What is a Charger?(Part 2)

We concluded in Part 1 that the most important Charger today connects your smart phone to it’s power source. Let’s go past the obvious and see what else a Charger is. We need to find a Charger connected to the ultimate power !

The second most popular choice in this mock family feud is a Dodge. A Dodge Charger is muscle car that is still produced today. The most famous Dodge Charger is arguably the 1969 General Lee from the TV show the Duke’s of Hazard.

I love old muscle cars. My dad used to drag race and he helped me rebuild an orange 72 Chevelle, it was my General Lee. That show was huge when I was young. Crazy how a show and a car can be such a powerful influence! Since 1964, the Dodge Charger has continued adapting, improving, and influencing many car enthusiast hearts. What is influencing your heart?

Let’s look at one answer that nobody chose from the list – a bowl. This Charger may come as a surprise to you. Matthew 14:6 On Herod’s birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for the guests and pleased Herod so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she wanted.”

Her Choice? She asked for John the Baptist head in a Charger. A bowl large enough to hold a beheaded prophet’s head. Not just any prophet, but the prophet Jesus called the greatest of them all. His own cousin!

I write this post to honor the GOAT of all prophets. John the Baptist (JTB) was different. Everyone wants to be like those that are popular, which is the reason Hollywood has such an impact on society. Hollywood tells society what lifestyle choices are cool and the general public eat it up!

Most everyone makes their decisions as if their auditioning for a role in a cast for a movie. That is why I love JTB, he was a complete outcast! Isaiah prophesied about a voice crying out in the wilderness. JTB fit that profile to a T as he wore clothes of camel skin and ate locust and wild honey. Must not have been the trend back in the day.

It was only a matter of time that the rebel who was announcing the coming of a future King and Savior, would end up in prison for boldly telling the world about Jesus!

While in prison, John the Baptist, had that moment we all have. Despite being the one who not only announced Jesus as the Messiah, but he baptized Jesus and witnessed God announcing His Son to the world. Yet on death row JTB sends word to Jesus. In Matthew 11:2-11, we hear JTB show that he too is completely human. “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

How could Jesus allow John the Baptist, his own family, to get beheaded? I honestly believe this hurt Jesus more than knowing what He was soon to have to endure himself through crucifixion. I have often said, “Hurt me, but don’t dare hurt my family.”

Instead Jesus continues on his journey to the cross overcoming the temptation to save his cousin. Why? There is only one powerful answer to that question.

God’s Love! Jesus chose to save you and me instead!

Jesus knew JTB had to clear the way and go before him. Not only coming before Jesus to earth , but to Sheol or Hades, then finally to Heaven.

We are all to be JTB’s today and be the voice in the wilderness letting a dark world know about the second coming of Jesus. Just like JTB, we have the Holy Spirit and He wants to guide and lead us on our journey. Will you answer the call to be different and lead another Jesus Revolution?
