I better make a powerful case to defend my answer to this question. I have posted under the Spirit Led Teams/Athletes tab articles on OU Softball’s rise to the top. I mentioned the unlikely rise of Coastal Carolina Baseball to the pinnacle of College Baseball. How much more dominate and bold in their faith can Coach Dabo Swinney and his Clemson Tigers be in College Football? Now, another unlikely story of faith behind the new No. 1 team in College Basketball.
Tennessee Volunteers Basketball is no stranger to dominating college basketball, but that was under Pat Summitt on the women’s side. If you took a poll and asked random American’s outside the state of Tennesse right now, “Who the no. 1 team is in Men’s College Basketball?” I am pretty certain that the number of people picking the Tennessee Volunteers would be very minimal.
Duke, Kansas, Gonzaga, and maybe even a Villinova, but Tennessee? I am guessing most people don’t even know who their coach is. Not only that, but I am pretty sure most people would struggle to even come up with the name of a single player on the their team. They can name Zion Williamson, but where in the world did these Volunteers rise from.
Let’s start with their leader, former University of Texas coach, Rick Barnes. Who resurrected his career and placed him as at the helm of the No. 1 team in the country? Well, that would be a Jesus. Why? Click and read this and find out!
