Judgement Calls

How many times does a single inch, a judgement call, or a missed free throw decide who is crowned champion? A split second on a play at home plate last night in the bottom of the 9th inning of Game 7 played a critical role in the Los Angeles Dodgers winning the 2025 World Series.
Replay helps avoid some poor judgement calls deciding a game, but without irrefutable evidence the judgement call stands.
The truth is an inch, a difficult judgement call, or a missed free throw often decides who is ultimately crowned a champion. In this life, you can finish higher than two hundred other teams that you are competing against, but if you finish runner-up you are not crowned a champion. Ask the Toronto Bluejays how coming up one close call away from a championship feels today.
Sadly, despite having the game plan readily available to all of us, not everyone will be Crowned a Champion on Judgement Day. Even though victory has already been won, the Bible says few will take the road less taken. Most will settle for earthly glory and a tarnished crown.
I have been blessed to win a number of championships in this life, but I have also on multiple occasions came up one play, judgement call, or free throw short of our goal. Thanks to the ultimate Champion our Lord Jesus Christ, on The Judgement Day, the entire body of Christ will be crowned Champion. You are not competing, as we do now, to be the only one crowned. Instead we are all called to help others be celebrated as Champions along side us on that Day!
The sad truth is you can be crowned champion on earth ten straight seasons and win ever close game, but not a single one of your championship rings will be used as evidence on Judgement Day to determine your Final Championship and eternal destiny.
We encourage our players to work hard enough to overcome all the judgement calls and missed free throws that prevent us from winning a game or reaching the top of the mountain in this life, but all the hard work you muster will have zero influence on whether you walk on the streets of gold.
Good guy, good athlete, or a good coach are not on the resume requirements of a Child of God. The only judgement call that matters is if you accept Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior, repent from your sins, and choose today to seek Him with all your heart! I can promise you that It will be the best decision of your life!
