Music is only one of many ways to worship God. Our goal as a team is to worship on the basketball court using the talent God gave us to honor and bring him glory. Music can be a powerful part of your team’s spiritual growth and daily food though. As a wide variety of musicians and groups have risen in popularity, worship music it’s own powerful move of God over the past decade. It transcends denominational and age barriers. My goal in Worship Central is to provide you with some great options of a variety of artist and sounds.
Who was the original worship leader in heaven? The arc angel satan. The idea that satan was a master musician comes from Ezekiel 28:13. The New King James Version of the Bible (NKJV), speaking of Satan, says, “The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were created.” The problem was Satan started seeing himself made with jewels as glorious, he heard the music that his body made and claimed it as his own. You see he only shined because of God’s glory reflecting off of his jewels and he only sounded good because of the Ruah, breath of God, that flowed through the pipes in him. Because of the fall of satan, music can be both good and bad and explaining that to your players is vital. Find worship music full of the word that you enjoy and let it lift you up, then find Worship music that your players will enjoy and lift them up! God has often spoken to me through music. I know He speaks to all of us differently, but worship music can be a primary source of daily spiritual food.
Below are some of my favorite links that describe and demonstrate passionate worship and it’s power when worshiping with music. Listen first to the testimony of Kim Walker. The first time i saw her on stage, i saw something different in the way she performed. She was in front of a large crowd, like most singers, but she was not performing for anyone in the audience. She was honestly up there with one focus and that was singing and dancing for Jesus. Here is why! Watch and see for yourself!
Second is a group of warriors that completely came together to honor God on the rugby field. My goal for my team that season was to have a locker room like this. We did after winning at Nationals, it was heavenly!
