Nationals had ‘IT’

What exactly “it” is is a million dollar coaching question. Using “is” back to back does not seem grammatically correct, but when trying to define a team that makes no sense, doing so grammatically incorrect makes complete sense! After starting the season like the bad news bears after trading their most talented offensive player Bryce Harper, this group of misfits goes fighter mode punching their way Rocky style all the way to a World Series Championship with the motto “Stay in the Fight”!

Young stars like Juan Soto and Victor Robles combined with the oldest team in baseball to make up a formula that proved unstoppable. Check out this article on May 20 after being swept by the Mets and dropping to 19-31.

They were on the verge of firing their manager/coach, trading players, and throwing in the towel when something extraordinary happened. What was it? Was is destiny? Luck? I would be reaching to say the only reason the Nats won it all is because of the faith of a few of their stars, but nobody can deny that without three outspoken believer’s, the Nats had absolutely no chance!

In the most desperate and adverse conditions, on the road facing elimination late in games, Anthony Rendon, Juan Soto, and Victor Robles, all showed an unbelievable ability to rise up.

Rendon seemed so calm during games that ESPN’s Scot Van Pelt asked him after the final game how he could have so much peace during those situations, adding that his resting heart rate looked as though it went from 8 beats to only 10. When Rendon replied “Jesus Christ”, it seemed to go in one ear and out the other as Van Pelt started talking about partying it up and who is the wild man that you have to be concerned about tonight. To a world that struggles to get ‘IT’, Rendon just smiles!

Rendon, when batting facing elimination in the 7th inning or later during the playoffs, had 3 Home Runs, 3 Doubles, and was wisely walked once. That is superhero level, yet what impressed Van Pelt was his extraordinary peace. The world wants to buy ‘IT’, but Jesus already paid for ‘IT’ on the cross! All you have to do is repent, ask, and pick up your cross and follow Him!

The man that makes up the heartbeat of the Houston Astros, Jose Altuve, understands where his peace and strength comes from as well! It is no surprise Rendon and Altuve’s teams reached the big dance and that we were blessed to watch an amazing 7 Game World Series.

I come back to that question. What is ‘It’? I can tell you that The Holy Sprir-IT” is definitely involved in the extraordinary, the impossible, and is most definitely a part of most good things that we find hard to believe! That is the God spoken Truth!
