One Set of Footprints (Part 4)

Seek, Contend, Persevere, … Synergize.

As a team, if you are going to contend for championships, then you must work together. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the value of this concept, but for history’s sake let’s look at where the word synergy comes from.

From modern Latin and Greek comes the term synergia, which means “joint work, working together, cooperation; assistance, help,” from synergos “working together,” related to synergein “help another in work,” from syn- “together” (see syn-) + ergon “work” (from PIE root *werg- “to do”).

My favorite definition I found for synergy is powerful unity.

Is this a Biblical concept? Without a doubt! God himself is three in one and desires to be in communion with each of us.

The only way to spending eternal life with God is through union with Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:21-23 MSG makes this clear. “I don’t want to hear any of you bragging about yourself or anyone else. Everything is already yours as a gift—Paul, Apollos, Peter, the world, life, death, the present, the future—all of it is yours, and you are privileged to be in union with Christ, who is in union with God.”

Communion is synergy exemplified. There is no more powerful example than God sending His only son, to replace each of us on the cross, so that we can spend eternity with Him.

God told Joshua to be “strong and courageous” three times. Combined, these two commands are much more powerful. You can see that same concept occur with faith and love or signs and wonders.

I will end this post with the powerful vision of walking stride for stride with the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus did. When you walk in stride with the Holy Spirit, you are walking in stride with Jesus, which means you are walking in stride with God. Someday when life has come to an end, if you could look back on your journey, you should only see
