Unsung Heroes

I am all about unsung heroes.
Who was Beniah or Thaddeus in the Bible? Most Christians don’t know.

Beniah’s resume is legit! He was only David’s Right Hand Man.

  • Killing a lion in a pit on a snowy day.
  • Defeating two heroic or lion-like men of Moab.
  • Serving as commander of King David’s personal bodyguard and later becoming the general of the army under King Solomon

Who was Thaddeus? Only one of the Apostles! His only recorded words in the Gospels happen during the Last Supper in John 14:22, where he asks Jesus: “Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” Yet he was an Apostle!

We had so many unsung heroes in our big win yesterday. Just mentioning a few!

Cash McAlvain only hit one shot the entire game, however it quite possibly could have been the biggest shot of the game. After we started the game on a 13-2 run, Langston answered with a 19-3 run and built a 6 point lead. Even though it was only midway through the first half, it was possibly the most critical point in the game. Momentum had flipped in a big way and in that difficult moment, Cash buried a deep three to break the momentum. Result, we went on a big run.

Angel Hidalgo and Humberto Kentish were also two unsung heroes. In 12 minutes they combined for 9 pts and 5 rebounds, but it was their relentless defensive effort, deflections, offensive rebounds, and all out effort that made an undeniable impact on the game.

Other unsung heroes included our fans that made the drive, local coaches who brought their teams, and all the elementary students from Roosevelt Elementary, who cheered us on Friday. I could go on and on about unsung heroes!

The list should always begin with my assistant coaches and our wives.
