What is your Range?
I remember hearing stories from my dad about guys back in the day who were a threat to make shots as soon as they crossed half court. Why is it that everyone has a desire to go deeper or higher?
Open the doors to the gym and roll the balls out and sit and watch as kids naturally start out behind the 3-pt line and before long they are heaving up half court prayers. If not that, then they are attempting to dunk.
If you want to get on SportsCenter, then either rise up and dunk on someone or connect on a shot from way downtown. With such a desire to go higher or deeper, why are most people so willing to only wade in the shallow end when it comes to life?
People tend to bounce from one thing to another in search of something that will fill the empty hole in their heart. The more they seek the world’s answers to filling this void, the more they find depression at the end of each journey.
No amount of money, fame, or self-worth fills this dark empty hole in everyone’s soul. Why?Why can’t people find a lasting joy that last? Because the only thing that ends darkness is light! Jesus is the only true answer to this riddle! The Savior of the World came to become the solution to this very problem, yet so many blindly daily seek elsewhere for their answer.
There is only one light of the world that removes all darkness. The Holy Spirit left Adam when he sinned leaving this dark void. Jesus came to change all that! It was a heavy great price our King paid for each of us. He paid with His life suffering a brutal criminal’s death full of our shame strapped naked to a cross for all to see, just for you and me!
So today why not choose to go against that dark desire to seek people, places, and things. How about going deeper or higher in your search for a closer stronger relationship with Jesus.
Here is a simple way to measure your range! You spend time seeking what you love, so how much time do you spend a day seeking a closer relationship with Christ? On a scale from 1-10, what is your range of TIME do you spend seeking?
As the bride of Christ, do the same for the amount of EFFORT you put in seeking the answer to pure joy! No, it is not a works thing, it is a Grace thing, but that makes it a heart thing. If the desire of your heart is to please and bring glory to our Savior, then your effort will match that desire!
It is time to go deeper and increase your range when it comes to what really matters. It is time to rise up higher in your passion to spread the light and love of Jesus inside you to the world! What is holding you back? I know who is at the root of it, but identify what weapon he is using to bind or blind you from seeing and experiencing the light. It is time to increase your range!
